Hi Jessica,
I am disappointed that the Cherry Festival Director doesn't consider the Annual Boardman River Cleanup during the Cherry Festival worthy or valuable enough to participate in the Cherry Festival Community Share program. This event has been a part of the Cherry Festival for many years and now all of a sudden, it's not?
We have taken tons of trash out the downtown section of the Boardman since 2004. Consider what the river would look like for our visiting tourists to see during Cherry Festival if we had not done this work for so long. The Cherry Festival has gotten their money's worth and more.
Members of the USCG, the Traverse Area Paddle Club, the GT Audubon Club, the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and many members of the community participate in this annual event. They will be disappointed to be excluded from this being volunteers and denied a chance to serve our community in this way.
We will do our river cleanup as usual on the 11th of July and we will do it for free because we feel that this is a service that we are uniquely qualified to do. Anyone and walk a beach and clean it but we have the tools and expertise to do river cleanups and that is how we will serve our community paid or not.
I would like to have an opportunity to talk to the Director personally about this exclusion from the BRCS form the Community Share program. Please share this email with him.

>Hi Norman,
>
>I wanted touch base with you as we are placing our community share groups. After speaking to our Executive Director, Trevor Tkach. We will not need to place a share group to clean the boardman river.
>
>We would be willing to pay your organization to help clean the beaches- both Clinch Park Beach and West End Beach. Is this something that your group would be interested in helping with this year? Thinking we would need help Opening Weekend on Saturday and Sunday (7/5 & 7/6) also Friday and Saturday (7/11 & 7/12).
>
>I know you have a big team to help and we could definitely use all the help to focus on keeping the beaches and areas clean!
>
>I look forward to hear back from you!
