Once again, this is a longish email. Please read it, anyway.

CONTENTS
   - The Schedule
   - 15 minute speaking slots
   - Tell Leah about your transportation plans
   - Tell us your food preferences and restrictions
   - Bring things to show

THE SCHEDULE
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
First of all, here's the schedule as a Google spreadsheet:

  http://is.gd/sketching2013_schedule

Your name should be on it, with an approximation of the presentation topic
you told me about. The spreadsheet is editable, so if you would like to
change the title or add one, feel free.

If you would like a different time slot, however, or if you would like to
swap with someone, please let me know before you edit. There's no magic to
the order everyone is presenting in, but I'd like to keep track of who's
going when.

FIFTEEN MINUTE SPEAKING SLOTS
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All speaking slots have been shortened to 15 minutes. I did this for two
reasons:

  - To increase the amount of time when everyone could talk to each other.
Several people told me that interaction between sessions is one of the
more valuable parts of Sketching for them, so I reduced talking time and
made big breaks several times a day.

  - To keep everyone's brain from melting. At 20 minutes each the event
would have been all lecture, and that sounded like a recipe for overload.

However, if you'd like an extra 5 (or even 10) minutes, I've built in some
buffers and can accommodate a handful of slightly longer presentations.
Let me know if you need an extra five minutes and I'll work it into the
schedule.

TELL LEAH WHAT KIND OF TRANSPORTATION YOU NEED
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PARC was intentionally built in a relatively isolated location, and it
still is. There's plenty of parking, but few public transportation
options. Stanford runs a free public shuttle from the Palo Alto train
station, but it will only run on Friday (if you're interested, the line
you want is "Research Park" or RP:
http://transportation.stanford.edu/marguerite/MargueriteSched.shtml )

We are renting shuttle busses to take everyone from the hotel to PARC,
home and then from the hotel to the restaurants for Friday and Saturday
dinner. Leah McKibbin is negotiating with a number of bus companies. If
you have not yet send her an email, please let her know what kind of
transportation you'll be using (you own car, taxi or our shuttle bus). Her
email address is: leah.mckibbin at thingm.com

FOOD PREFERENCES/RESTRICTIONS
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All food between (and incuding!) Friday breakfast and Sunday afternoon
snack is included in your Sketching tickets (thanks to the generousl
sponshorship of Intel, Sparkfun Electronics and Seeed Studio!).

We have asked the restaurants and caterers to provide vegetarian options
at all meals, but please tell us if you have any other preferences or
restrictions and we will make sure they're covered.

THINGS TO SHOW
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We are once again doing an hour on Sunday afternoon ("Science Faire" on
the schedule) when you will have the opportunity to show projects and
technology you're working on to the other participants, and where you will
get to get a close-up look at other people's stuff.

Please bring any/all new projects, prototypes and half-finished ideas with
you.

See you soon!
