WE’RE FULL!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When we started the reboot of Sketching in Hardware, we decided to grow
the event, but not too much. Our old upper limit was 50 people, and for
2017 we decided to grow to 100. We hit 100 people very quickly, and we’ve
been effectively full for a month at least.
THANK YOU! We’re really excited to see all of you.
PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT ASAP
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Because of the size of Sketching this year, our budget has doubled and
this means that we need an accurate idea for how many people we can expect
for sure.
If you expect that you won’t be able to make it, please let us know as
soon as you can. Even if you’re leaning 60/40 to being able to make it,
please let us know, so we can plan appropriately in case you end up on the
40 side of that equation.
Also, if you could pay that would be great. It's not critical right now,
and we'll bother you more emphatically later, but it helps. Thanks.
PLEASE FILL OUT OUR PARTICIPANT SURVEY
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I know, we’re nearly at the level of pestering you, but for the same
reasons as listed above, we would like everyone to fill out our
participant survey. We only have about half of you. Please fill it out. It
takes 5 minutes.

HENRY FORD MUSEUM CONFIRMED!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We have gotten confirmation from the Henry Ford Museum that they will not
only let us work extended hours INSIDE the museum during the charrette
(maybe all night? We don’t know yet), but that we’ll be getting
behind-the-scenes tours of the collection from curators and a tour of the
Ford River Rouge truck assembly plant. This is likely to be a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so please do stay for the charrette if you
can.
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Once again, thank you to the Knight Foundation for giving us the financial
security to grow the event and try things we have never attempted.
Thank you to the Henry Ford, for their generosity in giving us
unprecedented access.
Finally, it feels a bit weird to say thank you to ThingM, because I’m a
cofounder, but I’m hardly involved in ThingM’s day-to-day activities
anymore, and Sketching wouldn’t exist without Tod Kurt’s generosity in
supporting Sketching for more than a decade with his time, with Leah
McKibbin and Janie Coakley’s time, and with his energy and ideas. Thank
you.
