I think this didn't go out last week as I had planned. My apologies. If
you get this, reply to me (not reply to all ;-) so I know the list is
working. Thank you!

ROOM SHARING
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Some folks have sent us email asking about room sharing. We’ve paired several
people up, but if you’re still looking, please let us know and we’ll see what
we can do.
INITIAL SCHEDULE REVIEW
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When I decided to reboot Sketching this year and double the number of people
invited, I was determined to stay true to the original vision I had for it: an
event where everyone speaks, there is no difference between audience and
presenters, and it doesn’t matter where you are in your career or what
discipline you’re from, you get the same amount of time. The goal has always to
create a community where everyone knows something about everyone else.
I couldn’t keep the old format of 20-minute presentations exactly the same, so
I’m trying several new things. Based on your responses to our questionnaire,
most presentations are in the old format, but I’ve grouped some of you into
panel discussions on themes that I think you will find interesting, and I’m
trying a new round-robin interview format (introduced to me by Margaret Gould
Stewart) where 3-5 people interview each other in order (A-B, B-C, C-A) for ten
minutes. Since I’m guessing at things here, I’m sure there are mistakes.
Please review the following schedule and email me if:
- You would rather not speak in a group or on a topic where I have placed you.
- You would like to speak at a different time.
- I got the title of your presentation wrong.
- You’re not on the schedule at all (if you haven't yet replied to the
questionnaire, you're not)
- Or, really, if you have any thoughts about the schedule.
And yes, I know, that’s a lot of talking. I’m still working on how to break it
up well, but that’s one of the experiments this year and I’m very thankful you
can join me for it. I hope it doesn’t blow up.
The document is editable, so you can change spellings or titles, but please
don’t move things around.

PAST UPDATES
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is update #5. If you missed any of the previous ones, please let me know
and we’ll send them to you.
THANK YOU! I’m very excited to see all of you next month.
