HOTEL LINK
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The event hotel is the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center with a rate of
$134/night. As a kid growing up in suburban Detroit, the RenCen played a
major role in my childhood. It was simultaneously a symbol of the hope of
Detroit, an undeniable architectural landmark, and a tower fortress that,
originally pitched as a “city within a city,” symbolized the isolationist
impulses which further divided the city in the wake of the 1967 riot.
Originally built by Ford, today it’s the world headquarters of General
Motors and a major Detroit cultural hub. It’s also a lovely hotel with
great views of the river and city.
Here’s a link to get the room rate.

HOTEL ROOM SHARING
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you’re on a budget and would like to get a room to share, feel free to
post to this list or contact us and we’ll try to find someone to share the
room with.
SURVEY REMINDER
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Once again, if you haven’t filled out the survey, please do. This really
helps us plan for many of the activities we’re organizing:

THURSDAY EVENING: BOWLING!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you’re in the Midwest, bowling is almost mandatory, so for folks who
arrive early on Thursday, July 27, we’re renting much (maybe most) of
Punch Bowl Social, which is a 15 minute walk/5 minute drive from the
Renaissance Center. We’ll cover the first round of bar food.
FRIDAY EVENING: TECHTOWN DETROIT
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Friday we’re going to have dinner at TechTown Detroit, the city’s business
and technology accelerator, and we’re going to invite some folks from the
TechTown startup scene to the event. We’ll have more on this later, but
we’d love for there to be new mindblowing things to show off as we dine
and talk. If you have some new technology you’d like to show this
audience, please let me know.

Thanks.
Once again, THANK YOU to the Knight Foundation, our premier sponsor.
