I'll be out of town for this project but some of you might be interested in starting the process of helping the Boardman Dam Pond start to heal.
Contact REB if you can help out.

WHO: You!  ...along with Conservation District staff.
WHAT:  2,850 milkweed plugs will be planted to help restore pollinator habitat along the banks of the Boardman River within the recently exposed bottomlands of the former Boardman Pond impoundment.
WHEN: This Friday from 9:30 until all of the plants are planted!
WHERE: Natural Education Reserve, Lone Pine Trailhead (located on Keystone Rd. just one mile south of Keystone Soccer Complex)
WHY?: Milkweed is an important plant species for many pollinators, particularly the monarch butterfly. Establishing pollinator habitat will help the local ecosystem reclaim itself following the recent removal of Boardman Dam.
Join us for this great opportunity to actively help restore habitat at one of your best local parklands! Learned more about the dams removal project and have fun with kindred spirits!
Bring a shovel if you have one, but we'll have a few extras. The plugs are small, so even a hand trowel  would work just fine!
Questions? Please email, call or text without hesitation. Cell: (231)-709-0165
We need your help, come lend a hand!
